- Dig foundation hole as detailed in Groundsleeve Installation
Instructions
- Remove flagpole shaft from shipping tube, and place on sawhorses.
Remove the setting tube from the butt of shaft, and place tube into
foundation hole so that bottom is well-worked into the
sand, and the top is 1" to 2" above grade.
- Plumb the setting tube vertically, and brace so
that it cannot move during pour. Pour concrete, and
trowel to desired finish. Keep inside of tube dry and
free of concrete. Allow concrete to cure for at least 24
hours before installing flagpole shaft.
- Remove wrappings from top and bottom of shaft, and
from around cleat area. (Leaving remainder of wrappings
on shaft will help protect it from hand-prints.) Attach
cleat to shaft using predrilled holes and screws
provided. If an optional flash collar has been supplied,
slip collar on bottom of shaft, and temporarily tape to
wrappings below cleat.
- Screw ball-stem into top of truck, then use wrench
to tighten jam-nut against top of truck. Slip truck on
shaft, using an Allen wrench to tighten the set-screws
holding truck to shaft. Make certain that the truck
pulley is aligned over the cleat.
- Thread rope halyard through the truck pulley, and
tie rope-ends loosely together, in order to check for
proper length of halyard. Halyard should be long enough
to wrap three or four times around the cleat. If too
long, cut off excess length and fuse cut-end with a match
to prevent fraying. Re-tie knot tightly.
- Pick up shaft and place it into the setting tube,
rotating it to face the truck in the desired direction. A
level should be used to plumb the flagpole shaft. Pour
dry sand between pole and sleeve to permanently set the
pole. Leave a 1" to 2" void at top of the
sleeve for sealer. Fill void with waterproof cement or
silicone sealant. If optional flash collar is being used,
slip it down the shaft and caulk it into place on
concrete and around shaft.
- Attach flagsnaps to halyard by forming a loop in
the rope, running the loop through the swivel-eye and
over the snap, then pulling the rope taut. Adjust
distance between snaps to fit the size flag being flown.
Flagsnaps should be placed on the rope so that the flag
is at the peak when the knotted end is on the cleat.
Attach flag and run it to the peak, then tie off halyard
on cleat.
