for shafts less than 30' in height

The following instructions are furnished by Concord Industries® as is and without any kind of warranties either expressed or implied on behalf of Heritage Flag & Supply. They are furnished as a general guideline for installation of your Concord Industries® flagpole. Please call for pricing and availability.

  1. Dig foundation hole as detailed in Groundsleeve Installation Instructions.

  2. Remove flagpole shaft from shipping tube, and place on sawhorses. Remove the setting tube from the butt of shaft, and place tube into foundation hole so that bottom is well-worked into the sand, and the top is 1" to 2" above grade. Make certain that the setting screw is at the top of the setting tube, and is facing in the direction you vent the cleat to face.

  3. Plumb the setting tube vertically, and brace so that it cannot move during pour. Pour concrete, and trowel to desired finish. Keep inside of tube dry and free of concrete. Allow concrete to cure for at least 24 hours before installing flagpole shaft.

  4. Remove wrappings from top and bottom of shaft, and from around cleat area. (Leaving remainder of wrappings on shaft will help protect it from hand-prints.) Attach cleat to shaft using predrilled holes and screws provided. If an optional flash collar has been supplied, slip collar on bottom of shaft, and temporarily tape to wrappings below cleat.

  5. Screw ball-stem into top of truck, then use wrench to tighten jam-nut against top of truck. Slip truck on shaft, using an Allen wrench to tighten the set-screws holding truck to shaft. Make certain that the truck pulley is aligned over the cleat.

  6. Thread rope halyard through the truck pulley, and tie rope-ends loosely together, in order to check for proper length of halyard. Halyard should be long enough to wrap three or four times around the cleat. If too long, cut off excess length and fuse cut-end with a match to prevent fraying.

  7. Slip nylon flagsnaps over end of outside leg of halyard, run each snap to midpoint of rope, and tie loosely using an overhand knot. (Loose knot can be worked up or down later, to adjust for the size flag being flown.) Re-tie free rope-ends together, using a tightly pulled square-knot.

  8. Pick up shaft and place it into the setting tube, rotating it to face the truck in the desired direction and to line up the set-screw in the setting tube with the drilled and tapped hole in the shaft. Tighten set-screw to hold shaft in place. If optional flash collar is being used, slip it down the shaft and caulk it into place on concrete and around shaft.

  9. Remove remainder of wrappings from flagpole. Adjust flag snap spacing on halyard to accommodate flag; attach flag to snaps, run it to the peak, and tie off halyard on cleat.
